60 Patung Hilang Di Poso
At least 60 statues which date back to the stone age have been found missing in six districts across the Central Sulawesi regency of Poso. Poso Regent Piet Inkiriwang said Tuesday the ancient statues may have been stolen during the prolonged sectarian conflict that occurred from 1998 to 2006, and then sold to foreign collectors in Europe and the US. Hendrik Tauro, head of the regency’s education, culture and tourism agency, said there were roughly 1,000 Megalithic statues scattered about the districts of Lore Utara, Lore Timur, Lore Selatan, Lore Barat, Lore Tengah and Lore Teore, which borders Donggala regency. “We were only aware of the theft at the end of last year. After months of searching, we found some of the missing statues in Bali. We then heard of a French tourist who bought a statue for Rp 500 million,” Hendrik told kompas.com. A number of studies concluded that the statues date back to the first ever civilization in Central Sulawesi
